Mommy makeovers have been growing in popularity for many years, and now you can get yours at Northstate Plastic Surgery of Chico, CA. The term is often used to describe a variety of treatments designed to help mothers feel comfortable in their bodies after going through the many changes of motherhood. Deciding when to have a makeover done is often one of the toughest decisions facing women who want to make a positive impact on their self-image.
What Is the Best Age for a Mommy Makeover?
The simplest answer to this question is that everybody is different, and the right age for you may be different from anyone else. However, there are a few things you should consider when it comes to deciding whether or not now is the right time for your makeover.
Are You Done Having Children?
A makeover is most effective when you are sure that you are done having children. This is because the treatments used can be undone by an unexpected pregnancy, resulting in a loss of long-term results. Before you spend time and money on your makeover, you should be sure that you will not be having any more children.
Are You Done Breastfeeding?
Women’s bodies continue to change long after the pregnancy has run its course. Breastfeeding and lactation can go on for years afterward and have a big impact on your hormonal cycles and even your weight. Even if you are sure you are done having children, it is usually best to hold off on the makeover until you have weaned off of breastfeeding and your body has returned to its normal cycle post-lactation.
It is important to note that winding down lactation can take many months, and is not necessarily a linear process. For this reason, you should monitor the changes in your body and make sure that all lactation has ceased for an extended period before you move forward.
Are Your Children Independent?
As much as you may be looking forward to having a makeover done, you should know that the process will require some time for your body to rest and recuperate. If your children are still very young, you may find that you need additional assistance during the recovery period. If you do not have assistance readily available, you might benefit from waiting until your children are a bit more independent before you begin treatments.
What To Expect
The mommy makeover is designed to help women address areas of the tummy, thighs, breasts, and more. These are the areas that are most impacted during the childbearing years and often leave women feeling self-conscious as their children grow. However, the true nature of your makeover will depend on your individual needs and wants.
You Have Options
The goal of a makeover is to help you feel confident in your own skin again. For this reason, your doctor will schedule a mommy makeover consultation to go over the areas that you would like to address and come up with a plan. This can include a wide range of treatments including breast augmentation, liposuction, and scar removal.
Remember, it’s all about what you want, so you should never be afraid to discuss your thoughts with your doctor and get a customized treatment plan. Then you can move forward with confidence that the final results will be exactly what you want.
Take Your Time
You’re eager to get into perfect shape and love your body again, but that doesn’t mean you need to rush through the makeover process. Some of the treatments that are right for you may take time to see results. This is often true for scar removal, stretch mark treatments, and firming the skin in areas where liposuction has been used.
The true results of your makeover may take time to appear, but they will last for many years to come. Just as it took time for your body to adjust to pregnancy and childbearing, it takes time for your body to adjust to your new life.
Trust Yourself
Deciding on a plastic surgeon is a big decision, and you will likely have several opportunities to ask questions and clarify your expectations before you undergo any treatments. Throughout this process, you should be assured that only you will know when the time is right for your makeover, regardless of your age. Make sure you have the full scope of your recovery times and what to expect immediately after treatment so that you can plan accordingly.
Get Back to the You You Love
Only you can decide if you’re ready for a full-body makeover, but when you know the time is right, there are experienced plastic surgeons ready to make your dreams come true. If you are done having children and are moving into the next phase of your life, now might be the perfect time to seek treatment.

People Can't Believe I'm 75!
by Joanne Wilburn
Category: reviewsI'm 75 years old, and recently upon visiting various doctors, I've had three of them either walk past me staring or even walk past the examination room, not recognizing their 75 year old patient. I've even had one nurse tell me the doctor thought he had the wrong person in the examination room because my skin looked so young! People actually come up to me and ask to touch my face. I love it!
Professional and caring, skilled healthcare team!
by Stacey Longtin-Horton
Category: reviewsIn late October I had a work-related injury that resulted in a partial amputation of my left thumb. Because my bone was exposed, reconstructive surgery was needed in order to minimize infection and to save what I had left of my thumb. Dr. Kevin Myers determined that a Moberg advancement flap was the best option to maintain full range of motion and the most thumb length possible. My overall experience here was absolutely amazing! The entire staff was very accommodating and kind and worked in a very professional matter. They were always there to answer questions when I had them. My surgery went very well, and recovery was easy. A little over two months later, I now have a fully functioning thumb with full feeling and full range of motion! I am totally impressed with the work that the healthcare staff did! Although I hope to never need any reconstructive surgery again, I would not hesitate coming back here if I needed to for any issue. 100% would recommend to friends or family.
