The decision to get plastic surgery is a very personal one. And if you’re considering an anti-aging procedure such as a face lift, you may be wondering what’s the best age for this procedure. What age is too young or too old for cosmetic surgery? The experts at Northstate Plastic Surgery Associates in Chico, CA will help you decide.
The Best Age for Getting a Face Lift
Many people choose to get a face lift in their 50s or 60s. However, getting this procedure at a younger age comes with benefits, too. If you’re ready to undergo surgery to look younger, we will ask about your cosmetic concerns and ideal results. Everyone ages differently, so how you feel about the changes in your skin as well as your personal preferences are important factors to consider.
Getting cosmetic surgery in your 40s can help you achieve more subtle, natural-looking changes. Additionally, when your face is only showing signs or mild to moderate signs of aging, there’s no need for a dramatic repositioning of your facial muscles and tissues. When you get older, a more intensive movement of facial tissues may be needed to provide you with dramatic results.
Should You Get a Face Lift While You’re Younger?
If you prefer subtle improvements in your appearance, you may choose to get plastic surgery at a younger age. We can help you turn back the clock on skin aging without causing dramatic changes to your appearance. The result is a very youthful, natural look that’s easy to maintain with non-surgical treatments. If you have substantially loose skin at a young age, we can recommend a full face lift to you.
Additionally, by getting the procedure in your 40s, you can expect a shorter, smoother recovery period. Only a minimal amount of tissue and muscle repositioning is required if you don’t have advanced signs of aging.
Should You Wait Until You’re Older?
If you choose to get older before getting plastic surgery, we can still help you achieve excellent results. Most people choose to get a face lift as they reach 50 or above. As you pass this age, you may notice more prominent signs of aging, such as deeper creases, facial folds, and wrinkles. If you are looking for a more permanent solution to your cosmetic concerns, surgery can give you dramatic, long-lasting results.
By getting plastic surgery in your middle age, you can also get a big boost in self-confidence that can inspire you to move forward and feel successful in life. Many people reach the height of their careers in their 50s and 60s, and they may choose to get plastic surgery to rejuvenate their appearance and feel their very best. By waiting a little longer to get a full face lift, you can experience dramatic changes in your daily life and appearance.
Good Candidates for a Face Lift
Aging is an inevitable process, and all of us will eventually notice the visible signs of aging, especially on the face. If you feel that your wrinkles, sagging skin, and loose tissues are affecting your self-esteem, then you may have considered getting a surgical procedure to lift and rejuvenate your appearance. A surgical procedure may be what you need if serums, creams, and sunscreen do little to address your cosmetic issues.
During your initial consultation with our team, we will assess your overall skin condition and recommend whether cosmetic surgery is suitable for you. If you have severe wrinkles and skin laxity, we may lift your facial tissues and skin to help you look younger.
Those With Realistic Expectations
Plastic surgery can make you look 10 years younger, but you can’t expect to look like someone else or have the same results as another person. We can lift and tighten your skin, but your final results are still affected by many factors like your age, skin type, and genetics.
Those in Good Health
Are you free of medical concerns such as cardiovascular diseases, diabetes, and hypertension? If so, then you may be in good health to undergo a cosmetic procedure. General anesthesia may be needed to perform your surgery, so we must make sure that you are healthy enough to undergo the procedure and recover as expected.
Those With Good Skin Quality
Your skin quality is also important. For you to achieve beautiful, natural-looking results from a full face lift, your skin must still have some of its natural elasticity and firmness. We will assess your current skin condition to determine whether your skin quality is still good enough for your desired procedure.
Learn Whether Cosmetic Surgery Is Best for You
Deep wrinkles, sagging jowls, and facial folds can make you feel less confident about your appearance. People Can't Believe I'm 75!
by Joanne Wilburn
Category: reviewsI'm 75 years old, and recently upon visiting various doctors, I've had three of them either walk past me staring or even walk past the examination room, not recognizing their 75 year old patient. I've even had one nurse tell me the doctor thought he had the wrong person in the examination room because my skin looked so young! People actually come up to me and ask to touch my face. I love it!
Professional and caring, skilled healthcare team!
by Stacey Longtin-Horton
Category: reviewsIn late October I had a work-related injury that resulted in a partial amputation of my left thumb. Because my bone was exposed, reconstructive surgery was needed in order to minimize infection and to save what I had left of my thumb. Dr. Kevin Myers determined that a Moberg advancement flap was the best option to maintain full range of motion and the most thumb length possible. My overall experience here was absolutely amazing! The entire staff was very accommodating and kind and worked in a very professional matter. They were always there to answer questions when I had them. My surgery went very well, and recovery was easy. A little over two months later, I now have a fully functioning thumb with full feeling and full range of motion! I am totally impressed with the work that the healthcare staff did! Although I hope to never need any reconstructive surgery again, I would not hesitate coming back here if I needed to for any issue. 100% would recommend to friends or family.
